I enjoyed the first series, hated GX and haven't seen 4D's yet so I can't judge it.

I watched it on Kids WB..... and was VERY obsessed with it. Well, not as much as pokemon. But lets just say there were often dreams, fantasies, many collections, and tantrums when missing an episode when I was a child.... hah...

I have the majority of the series on oldschool VHS >w< I used to adore the show and recorded every episode I could.

I prefer the manga though. I have all of the YuGiOh 'zero' manga, and up to ... 13 of YuGiOh: Duelist.

I like the 4kids version, but the censorship is ridiculous and the fact that they aimed it towards a younger audience pisses me off. I even noticed that in the original version they often swear, especially when it came to using the word "asshole". If somehow Adult Swim or something got ahold of it then they 'd use swear words in it and I prefer anime with some swearing anyways. ***damn, 4kids, if it's aimed towards an older audience then don't fucking touch it! I bet if they kept the same voice actors, gave the license to FUNimation or something, and not censor anything, it would be even better than the Japanese version because FUNimation doesn't fuck things like 4kids does. I mean, just look at One Piece. 4kids was dumb thinking they could turn it into a children's show with so much violence. So they screwed it up. But then they lost the license and had to turn it over to FUNimation, who did ALOT better! And with the voice actors, I may add.

I loved it at the time. Now, after seeing much better shows, it's just... laughable. If Bakura wasn't in it...

I like it. It's it's funny, has a decent voice cast, and the characters are pretty likable. I prefer the Japanese version, though.

I love it. Which is mainly why I joined this forum (well, TAS, too).
Thing is, I'm new-ish to YGO in general. I mean I watched it as a little kid (and was slightly obsessive) and saw I think the Duelist Kindom arch and some later episodes... Whatever was on. Then one day I saw something for a new episode on WB and to my horror it wasn't about that Yugi kid I had grown to love...
There was some brown haired freak going on about dragons or some crap.
Thus YGO was pushed from my mind for like... 5 or more years.
Then my friend made me read a season 0 manga, and I went to read the read on MangaFox and saw some ads for YGO:TAS.
But I had dial-up. :/
So when we switched to real internet I watched some of season 0 and then TAS...
well guess what happened then?
Wow. This was way longer than I intended. Oops.

I liked the dubbed version of Yu-Gi-Oh for the characters - some were interesting and others were amusing.

I thought the overall plot was absurd (and the "Waking the Dragons" filler arc even moreso),
but I watched it anyway.

Loved it ever since 5th grade, all of it, even the 4kids version. And I've watched the Japanese stub, just bought the English uncut, and I enjoy LK's parodies (but they aren't the same as the real thing, you all are missing out!).

long thing coming:
I loved Yugioh in middle school. My sister and I would watch it every day on the WB when our mom would do yard work (she thought it was a waste of time). Then she finished her project outside and I had to stop watching it. I was really sad about it, so a couple of years later, I managed to find transcribed episodes on http://www.yu-jyo.net/ and read through all of the episodes that I hadn't gotten to see.
When I got my laptop, I started watching through the Japanese subbed episodes online [ http://www.youtube.com/user/yamibaku...end=1&ob=4#g/u (type yugioh episode _ part _-3 sub) and http://www.watchanimeon.com/anime/yu-gi-oh/ ] I am currently on episode 137. ^ ^ Though I liked the english dub, I love the Japanese version so much more. The characters really mean something.
Also, I love season 4 and the Noah arc, as I think I've said in another thread. I don't know why people bash on it all the time. It's like they don't want character development =/
Yeah. Yugioh is my favorite anime, and was also what introduced me to anime in the first place, for which I am grateful to 4kids, although I now realize the horrors they did to the plot.
thank you for your reading time. = )

I just finished watching "The Fall Of Kaiba". It's sad. :(

Season One had good character development, even with all the card games.

This is the show that got me into anime, also. And it was YGOTAS that brought me to watch Yu-Gi-Oh in the first place, for which I'm eternally grateful.
The ironic thing is that the person who introduced me to YGOTAS is an outspoken anime hater.

I liked it, and contrary to the the hurt everyone puts on 4kids, they know how to hook a kid in if he/she's in their target demographic like I was.

I really didn't like the Original Yugioh Japanese or English, yet strangely I liked GX and 5d's .

*hand up* Ich watch it!
Original and english (/german on occasion), the latter for the lulz.
I also started collecting the manga (in NZ where they cost a fortune), but stopped (back in Germany, where they are affordable @_@ where's the logic...?).
But I guess that's why I can laugh about TAS so easily - because I also asked myself a lot of the stuff LK poits out a million times.

Huh.. I've to admit.. I like it. I mean, before I always thought that "it's just some shitty manga where they just play games". (I didn't know it was made as anime...) But, well, one day I was really really bored and then I decided to read my little brother's YGO mangas. So.. I liked them. A lot. (Or maybe it was the boredom..) I rented them from library when my brother's collection stopped and later I bought them what my brother had, and bought next ones too. (I still don't have all of them, just 1-18 and 32-33.)

Then.. one day.. I was surfing randomly in the web and I was like "FTWWWW!" when I found out that it was made as anime. So I watched it.. and.. liked it. I didn't know anything about censorship so that didn't matter to me. Sure, I was little bored about card games but not enough, I mean, I watched the series, didn't I ò__- (My friends are always making fun of me 'cause I watched 200 episodes of anime.. about card games.)

I hate GX and 5D. Okay, I haven't watched them, but still... I like YGO so much because the characters are so cool, so I don't like card games that much that I'd watch those hose. >___>

I write too much. *cough*

GX and 5D's characters have likable things about them. I'd recommend watching some of GX. If you can tolerate Judai's near sociopathic preference to card games, you could sit through the whole thing.

I think LK made a lot of people realize you can like a show and its characters while siphoning the ever-loving piss out of it for being nigh incoherent and ridiculous in almost all aspects of its creation. You gotta admit, there's a really intriuging story under all the card games and stupid hairstyles: A high school boy befriends the spirit of an amnesiac Pharaoh, whose memories are the key to stopping the resurrection of an ancient evil from his forgotten past. Pity most of this takes place during the last 27 episodes of a 200+ episode series.

If Kazuki Takahashi hadn't listened to his moronic twelve-year old readers, the whole "King of the Shadow Games" thing might still refer to the fact that Yami's powers once involved invoking the ancient Egyptian concept of justice, usually ending with some form of deliciously ironic over-the-top punishment like insanity or death by scorpion bite. Which tied in nicely to the fact that the Millenium Items were [ created by the sacrifice of an entire village and probably didn't lend themselves well to more measured forms of retribution ]. Instead, Yami uses his dark, magical legacy to... play children's card games. And if you try to separate the card games from the actual plot, it's extremely sticky since Takahashi has "cleverly" made the duels almost inextricable from the convoluted inner logic of the story and the motivations of the characters.

Personally I have no tolerance for the card battles, so I watched the first and last seasons and either read up on or caught a few major episodes out of the middle that didn't involved dueling. It doesn't take much to get a good grasp of the characters from a few episodes and then realize that almost any part of the fandom could take the series in a more interesting direction than the one it ended up going in.
