Darling, after you grow out of Twilight, watch it again. ^_^
And you assume I like Twilight just because I really despised Citizen Kane?
That's poor logic.

And by "grow out of" you're also assuming I'm an early-mid teen girl.
I'm 21 and a guy ¬_¬

So wrong on both counts there.

I understand the greatness of classic films, just not Citizen Kane, I thought it was a terrible movie.
Everyone rates it as the greatest film ever made. This is what makes it overrated. The fact that I thought that it was a terrible film is neither here nor there. However it certainly is not anywhere near as good as it is rated.

If that's a shot at me, I apologize if you were offended.

However, I have made a reasoned post rebutting your critique of the Shawshank Redemption, so that's got to count for something.

I kinda liked the third Ice Age movie, but the second one felt over-rated to me.

Big Fish (I assume it's the CGI movie) did suck, it wasn't over-rated because it sucked and bombed completely. How it even went to cinema is beyond me.

SAW series is completely over-rated, when did "screaming" and "torture" become horror and "weird" become comedy? Epic Movie, Super Hero Movie, Scary Movie 3+4 all OOOOOOOOOOOVER-rated.

2001 in one word: BOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNGGG (This is how you talk in space XD )

You called it "shit". Which is pretty much the entire thing wrong with your reasoning.
I understand you might not like it. You might find it boring, etc.
I understand if you say Citizen Kane is overrated, that's your opinion.

But there's a difference between saying your opinion and throwing a tantrum to sound edgy and rebellious against all the "snobs" who enjoyed watching the aforementioned "shit".

Because "shit" is not the most fortunate term for one of the most influential pieces of cinematic history.

Let's say Citizen Kane is like your father. When someone says, "Hey, your father fucked your mother!", you don't have anything to say to that, because it's a fact. You may not like it that it happened (your mother might've been raped, or the sex was pre-marriage, or your father dumped your mother right after the fact, etc.)... but it ultimately led to your conception. You owe to your father your entire existence, and for that you owe just a tiny bit of gratitude.

In this case, we have a widely acknowledged masterpiece which, even if found shallow or aged, should still be considered a remarkable movie.

I'm not trying to be a Nazi here. It's not my favourite movie of all time (this position will always belong to The Good, The Bad, The Ugly), and a debate for "the greatest film ever" is not going to ever reach its conclusion.

But Citizen Kane is an undoubtable classic, and classifying is as "shit" reminds me of those Twilight fangirls who boycotted Stephen King simply because he stated the fact about Meyer's graphomania.

So, JesusRocks, I'm afraid you're screwed; Team Edward is never going to beat Team Rosebud. :P

*facepalm*
People, here's the definition for dummies:
"Overrated - glorified works that you believe don't deserve their ratings.". Or maybe I'm wrong and Epic Movie somehow got an Oscar when I was busy forcing vodka down my throat.

EDIT:

Aha! So you think that "growing out" of something requires a sex change? Truly an opinion suitable for a Twilight fangirl. ;)
You're really sexist, you know?
And mentally, you might be that teen, you know.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine... the timeline alone is enough to make me cringe.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince... SERIOUSLY, the only good scene in the whole movie is where Snape kills Dumbledore. I am not putting it in spoilers because everyone already knew about that.

This was not what I meant. I meant to pool together all of my reasons for disliking it. Saying I found it to be shit, is just as much my personal opinion of the film... I didn't mean to sound like I was stating fact.

I'll rise to this. Twilight was written for a predominantly female audience, around the early-mid teen age range. That was the audience, there was nothing sexist in it :P
Although I take your point about influential. Yeah, sure Citizen Kane was influential, a film can be very influential, even a classic... doesn't stop me from disliking it.
Heh, I can even see WHY it was influential, I can see WHY it's a classic.

I just... didn't like it.

You and I are on the same boat then.
Its just Dances with Wolves with Giant Blue People
or for younger audiences to get
Pocahontas with Giant Blue People.

My Film teacher even said it was bad. He got the layout for Pocahnotas and only did a few minor edits. Gold with unobtainium is an example.

Saw. I saw (HA HA) the first one and that put me off the entire series.

It sucked so much ass it was unbelievable.

And for the sake of (un)originality, Twilight. How something so awful can be considered a gift from God is beyond me. I'm not even gonna say anything about the 'vampires', but the whole main character setting the feminist movement back into the 1900's (slight exaggeration) is downright appaling.

I'm surprised a few people actually mentioned 'The Matrix'. I for one actually enjoyed that movie/trilogy to be honest.

I would have to say, of recent movies, Transformers 2 (even 1 actually) and Avatar we're just a tad overrated. I mean, if you ask anyone why it's they like it and you're bound to get the same reply: "Visual Effects were astounding". Puh-leeeeeez.
