That's poor logic. And by "grow out of" you're also assuming I'm an early-mid teen girl. I'm 21 and a guy ¬_¬ So wrong on both counts there. I understand the greatness of classic films, just not Citizen Kane, I thought it was a terrible movie. Everyone rates it as the greatest film ever made. This is what makes it overrated. The fact that I thought that it was a terrible film is neither here nor there. However it certainly is not anywhere near as good as it is rated. |

Unfortunately, that is the reasoning and wit used in this thread.

However, I have made a reasoned post rebutting your critique of the Shawshank Redemption, so that's got to count for something. |

I kinda liked the third Ice Age movie, but the second one felt over-rated to me.
Big Fish (I assume it's the CGI movie) did suck, it wasn't over-rated because it sucked and bombed completely. How it even went to cinema is beyond me. SAW series is completely over-rated, when did "screaming" and "torture" become horror and "weird" become comedy? Epic Movie, Super Hero Movie, Scary Movie 3+4 all OOOOOOOOOOOVER-rated. 2001 in one word: BOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNGGG (This is how you talk in space XD ) Last edited by SirFluffykins; 4 Days Ago at 05:02 AM. |

I understand you might not like it. You might find it boring, etc. I understand if you say Citizen Kane is overrated, that's your opinion. But there's a difference between saying your opinion and throwing a tantrum to sound edgy and rebellious against all the "snobs" who enjoyed watching the aforementioned "shit". Because "shit" is not the most fortunate term for one of the most influential pieces of cinematic history. Let's say Citizen Kane is like your father. When someone says, "Hey, your father fucked your mother!", you don't have anything to say to that, because it's a fact. You may not like it that it happened (your mother might've been raped, or the sex was pre-marriage, or your father dumped your mother right after the fact, etc.)... but it ultimately led to your conception. You owe to your father your entire existence, and for that you owe just a tiny bit of gratitude. In this case, we have a widely acknowledged masterpiece which, even if found shallow or aged, should still be considered a remarkable movie. I'm not trying to be a Nazi here. It's not my favourite movie of all time (this position will always belong to The Good, The Bad, The Ugly), and a debate for "the greatest film ever" is not going to ever reach its conclusion. But Citizen Kane is an undoubtable classic, and classifying is as "shit" reminds me of those Twilight fangirls who boycotted Stephen King simply because he stated the fact about Meyer's graphomania. So, JesusRocks, I'm afraid you're screwed; Team Edward is never going to beat Team Rosebud. :P Quote:
People, here's the definition for dummies: "Overrated - glorified works that you believe don't deserve their ratings.". Or maybe I'm wrong and Epic Movie somehow got an Oscar when I was busy forcing vodka down my throat. EDIT: Quote:

X-Men Origins: Wolverine... the timeline alone is enough to make me cringe.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince... SERIOUSLY, the only good scene in the whole movie is where Snape kills Dumbledore. I am not putting it in spoilers because everyone already knew about that. |

Although I take your point about influential. Yeah, sure Citizen Kane was influential, a film can be very influential, even a classic... doesn't stop me from disliking it. Heh, I can even see WHY it was influential, I can see WHY it's a classic. I just... didn't like it. |

Your rebuttal was reasoned. Sorry for the jab--I'm a bit of a hot-head.
